Maybe you’ve deleted Linux and don’t want to use Grub or whatever anymore.
1. Boot up with your Windows XP disc.
2. Select the option Recovery Console.
3. At the prompt, type “fdisk /mbr” (without the quotes of course)
4. Restart your computer.

NTBackup isn’t working and you’re getting errors like this:
Volume shadow copy creation: Attempt 1.
Timeout before function completed
Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:0xffffffff.
Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:ffffffff
Aborting Backup.

The operation did not successfully complete.

This is how I fixed it:
Continue reading ‘When NTBackup dies (or anything that uses the Volume Shadow Service (VSS))’
Release the current lease:
sudo dhclient -r
Obtain a new one:
sudo dhclient
Using this command will hide your Windows PC from a Windows network. You can still browse to it using the \\computer\folder method.
net config server /hidden:yes
I’m sure many people have wondered this about numerous sites. Heres a website that checks the status. Props to the nify domain name.
